Hilary Cotton is standing down at the AGM in November at the end of her three-year elected term.

There will be an election this autumn, so if you may be interested in standing, please contact one of the Vice Chairs (Anne Stevens: [email protected] and Stephen France: [email protected]), or Hilary: [email protected]. A job description is available. Hilary says:

When I was elected for three years as Chair in 2013 there were two major tasks: to see the legislation for women to be bishops through to its conclusion (including whatever was needed to get a good number of female bishops appointed); and to take WATCH through the transition from focusing on a single objective, to working across the wider issues of sexism in the Church in all its manifestations. Thanks to the efforts of many, we are well on our way with both of those tasks.

WATCH is in excellent hands. The national Committee is a warm, diverse, enthusiastic and enormously capable group of women and men, lay and ordained, working really well together on the new agenda.

After three stints on the Committee, two terms as Vice Chair and one as Chair, it is time for me to stand down. I will continue to support the work of WATCH in other ways, and to pray for the next Chair and Committee as they work by the grace of God for WATCH’s vision of the church as ‘a community of God’s people where, regardless of their gender, justice and equality prevail.’
