Since the vote in November we have had plenty of encouraging news as  women continue to be called and appointed to senior posts in the Church of England.

Two new women archdeacons have been announced: Revd Dr Joanne Woolway Grenfell as the next Archdeacon of Portsdown, in Portsmouth diocese, and Revd Dr Jane Steen as the next Archdeacon of Southwark.  Two women have also been appointed as acting archdeacons: the Ven. Christine Froude, Archdeacon of Malmesbury, in Bristol diocese, since 2011, is now also Acting Archdeacon of Bristol, and the Revd Suzanne Sheriff is to be temporary Archdeacon of York.

There is also good news from the Church in Wales, where the Ven. Janet Henderson, currently Archdeacon of Richmond, in Ripon & Leeds diocese, has been announced as the next Dean of Llandaff.  This means that two of the six welsh cathedral deans will be women, a fantastic proportion.

Hearty congratulations to all these women and we wish them every blessing in their ministries
