The Anglican-Lutheran Society, St Anne’s Lutheran church with WATCH (London) present:
Women of the Reformation
This year is the 500th commemoration of the Reformation when Martin Luther was said to have posted 95 Theses on the door of Wittenberg’s Town Castle Church. Much is said and written of the men who spearheaded the Reformation but not so much about the women who, in so many ways, supported and spread the word often at great cost to their lives.
To commemorate the Reformation and pay tribute to its women, The Anglican-Lutheran Society, St Anne’s Lutheran church with Women and the Church: WATCH (London), are linking together to invite you to three early evening events to hear about Reformation Women. The evenings are to be held at the Church of St Mary-at-Hill, Lovat Lane, Eastcheap, London, EC3R 8EE by courtesy of the Revd Prebendary Rose Hudson Wilkin.
St Mary’s is home to the Lutheran congregation of St Anne’s whose pastor is The Revd Eliza Zikmane. (www.stmary-at-hill.org for travel directions)
The dates are: Thursday 18 May; Thursday 22 June and Thursday 29 June; all from 6.30-8.30pm.
In coming together with our Lutheran sisters and brothers we will not only have three enjoyable evenings in a historical city church, hearing about women of the Reformation, we hope to forge greater links and friendship between us on the occasion of this important anniversary.
We do hope you will be able to come. There will be drinks and light refreshments and an opportunity to talk together.
It would help us if you could let us know if you are able to attend; please contact: [email protected] - but if you forget - come anyway! We will be very pleased to see you.
