A Woman’s Place is in the House of Bishops’: Remembering the Church of England’s Campaign for Women’s Ordination

November 11 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

An online talk, given by Grace Heaton, to mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of the legislation to enable women to be ordained priests, followed by discussion and questions.

Grace Heaton has spent the last 4 years researching the history of the Movement for the Ordination of Women, and will use this talk to remind us of this story.

She will begin this talk by providing a brief overview of the origins of MOW, and the types of activism campaigners took part in. Having laid these foundations, this talk will then explore the silencing of women in the aftermath of the 1992 vote and will consider how the campaign has been remembered since, both in the Church and also in the Academy.
